Rizhao, or how a Chinese city of  3 millions of inhabitants succeded in promoting  in an effective way the renewables energies ?

A Chinese sucess story….

September 4th in  Rizhao

A coast city between Shanghai and Beijing

Mayor : Li Zhaoqian

3 millions of inhabitants

It is in 2001 that Li Zhaoqian became mayor of Rizhao. Since then, all went on very quickly….

This  « small coast city » of 3 millions of inhabitants became  a true model in renewable energy inciting policies.

The figures speak from themselves :

Water heaters are installed on 99% of the city houses and on 30%of the country houses.

> 32 installations allowing to produce gas (methane type) and so electricity  with  sewage.

> 15 000 houses have a small gas production system working with animals dejecta and  stems, which ca be used for the cooking of the heating of the house.

> 6000 families  have a solar oven for their kitchen.

A strong will

The mayor did not invent everything during a couple of years in this sunny seaside city, but he considerably speed it up. Many water heaters were already installed before he became the mayor of the city, this  already saving precious Kwh et RMB for each family but Li Zhaoqian developped it on a large scale thanks to inciting policies, precise financial aids and a strong will.

More than 90 millions de Kwh are produced each year thanks to the sewage into gas transformation installations.

The whole of the solar energy which is collected to heat water, farm greenhouses is equivalent to 1,44 millions of tons of coal….

A nice example which interested the Chinese government ; these local policies  are on the way to be transformed into national policies…

Not bad, your Worship !

Many of them are sold in the streets..
 Really everywhere..

Génial, on est vraiment sur une grande échelle, là, peut-on connaitre la proportion d'énergie que produisent ces initiatives par rapport aux énergies totales consommées dans la ville ? ce serait très intéressant.
Merci
