Photovoltaïc day, today!

To be remembered:photovoltaic is the technology allowing to transform the rays of the sun into electricity...

Two appointments, 2 different scales.

On the morning at Atlantys Energy, they make photovoltaïc solar systems combining architectural beauty and energy efficiency. They are about 200  and their turnover is of 6 Millions Dollars.

On the afternoon, appontment at the US photovoltaïc giant, Sun Power, appointment which has been  hard to get (congratulations Matt !) in face of the snowed under diaries of the 3000 employees of this company whose turnover wil pass on the billion of dollars this year … They manufacture today the best efficient solar panels in the world…

 Atlantys Energy. 

Their business : Combining architecture and photovoltaïc installation.

 They design products such as tile or solar slate, solar windows,  solar courtyards aso…

One of their main products (and with no doubts the reason why they accepted to receive us !) is the est la SunSlates, a solar slate.A concept which has been developped 3 years ago now. It is a slate on which photovoltaïc cells are fixed transforming your roof into electricity producer. This avoid the installations of panels, badly considered, in an architectural point of view.

In the case of slate, your roof becomes a little bit darker, which does not disturb the whole unit.

This installation is possible for  renovations as for new constructions.

Another intesrting system which has just benn developped in partnership with another company a hybrid system allowing to produce electricity from your roof. The heat collection is done by a water circuit which goes under the photovolatic panels.

This heavy system can only be installed on new constructions.

Sun Power

 Appointment in their new headquarter in an old dock of the Richmond, harbour  huge open space  wher everything has been thought to be moved very quickly.

Big spaces are available to answer to the incredible development of this company.

Originally SunPower was only a photovoltaïc cells manufacturer.

Already number one in the US of the upstream industry,  they bought Power Light a year ago, the number one of the systems integrating solar on the buildings or on the ground.This makes them number one of the photovoltaïc industry in the USA.

An increasing turnover,+ 900% since 2 years ! ITheir industrialized panels are the most competitive in term of electricity production and solar radiation in the world. They are also the most expensive!

But it is impossible for the moment to meet demand…

The increase of the price is parly due to this demand !

The country number 1 in the photovoltaïc industry today : Germany ! Our neighbors have today nearly  3700 MW installed against approximately  50MW in France…
