Navitime Tokyo, Japan Turnover : ~ 1 M€ 200 employees CEO : Keisuke Onishi
It is in the sushi country thjat we met a very successfull company in Japan…. Navitime
His two founders Keisuke Onishi et Shin Kikuchi, two Japanese researchers, are worldly known for their works. They spent more than 20 years to invent or to improve new computers algorythms to find the easiest ans quickest way to go from one point to another one while using any type of transportation. Car, bicycle, bus, subway, Train, plane, ferries or by feet.
Wher you are, where you want !
Both graduated at the same university wher they met for the first time, . Navitime was created much later. Thanks to a GPS chip, present on every new mobile phone in Japan and the algorithm created by the 2 inventors, it gives you the 5 quickest ways to reach the exact address wher you wan to go from the exact place where you are. You can then choose the less polluting way, thes cheapest one or the most sporting one. This program is very successfull in Tokyo, a city known as having the most developped public transport network in the world.
It is the first application of this type downloadable on the web for mobile phones that more than 2 millions of Japanese use every day for less than 2€ per month.
You save a lot of time. PNo need to ask oneself which is the shortest wat, the quickest way, you know everything!
No need to say « We will be late again, let's take the car ».
An efficient internet network in the city and a GPS chip in one's mobile phone are necessary. But other services can work without these two points.
Why the French cities do not incite these types of companies to develope such services in France ? A simple adn efficient way to promote public transportation.
