The project of Augustin is brilliant : a technical knowledge is at the disposal of anyone, in order to manufacture oneself   something allowing everybody to benefit from what is an evidence to us but a luxus in Brazil : warm water… 

 Augustin is a former engineer who took a drastic shift, fifteen years ago. A strong will to undertake for the others involved the creation of his association Sociedade do Sol, 

 «  the society of the sun  ».  

Their objective? Allowing anyone to benefit from a technology adapted to the tropical and subtropical climate to heat the shower water at low cost.

Since 2001, le CESBM(Cheap Solar Water Heater) becomes very popular, as a lox cost product and involving an important saving of the households electricity consumption. Today, more than 20000 stations were installed throughout Brazil. 

How does the Sociedade do Sol run? They are neither water heater installers nor retailers, no ! The manufacture guide of the heat water is simply at the disposal of everyone and free of charge on their website. This guide explains all the steps, the quantity of each material which is necessary … And all that with very simple materials and at a very low price.

Result: a heat water 95% cheaper than a traditional one ! The business of the Sociedad is to improve their guide and their system to make it more efficient and cheaper and above all, to communicate about it to allow its access to as many Brazilians as possible.

But today, the project has grown up and their website (and thus their guide) is translated in English, Spanish and French to allow its access to a maximum of people !  And it works perfectly, the number of internet users downloading the guide is exploding.

The objective of Augustin is simple : reach the million of heat waters installed in Brazil as quick as possible. Of course, you would have understand, this organization does not earn money but is self financed thanks to aids such as the one of the ASHOKA organization (www.ashoka.org) and some institutions specialized in the water-heater manufacture in Sao Paulo…
