Remember one of our first appointments in  Germany : TREC. One of their objectives among others: promote a clean electricity productin thanks to the solar when setting power stations in the desert.

France takes the idea seriously! There is a lot going on!

Jean-Louis Borloo French minister of Ecology, Sustained Development and Energy asserted saturday in Alger that there was a convergence between the European Union and Africa about global warming (...) "We will  work together to develop the operative research about high concentrated solar energy", M. Borloo declared(...) He underlined that it concerned the bilateral means between Algeria and France, and those from the Mediterranean Union which will be proclaimed on July 13th by the French president Nicolas Sarkozy. ALGER (AFP) — The Ecology minister Jean Louis Borloo arrived in  Alger saturday for a two days visit, during which a co-operation agreement about renewable energies will be signed, according to a French source (...) M. Borloo, is the guest of the Algerian minister of the Energy and the construction projects involving tunnelling Chakib Khelil. They will have together discussions about  "the possible cooperations between the two countriess in the energy area, especially the renewables ones among which the " solar energy" (...) The two ministers will sign  a cooperation agreement about the renewable energies and the energy efficiency(...). M. Algeria and France plan to sign an  cooperation agreement in the renewable energies area -The objective of he two days visit of Jean Louis Borloo, French minister of Ecology, Energy, Sustained Development and Regional Development, is to reinforce the energy cooperation between the two countries and to transform this will into facts (...)

Our country has a huge potential for the solar energy exploitation.A study realized by the Helmholtz dAerospace Research Center (DLR) at the request of the German Federal Ecology ministry was to prove the feasability of the « DESERTEC » concept whose objective is the acceleration of the electricity and desalinized water production from thermosolar power stations and windmills located in the Middle East and North Africa and to provide, from 2020 the transportation of ths electric energy until Europe.


Therefore, a cooperation agreement has been signed on January 29th in  Brussels between the DLR eand the Algerian society NEAL (...) - Source: Algérie.dz.com

Oui, cela commence à bouger un peu en France ;) 
 
Dr. Gerhard Knies, fondateur de la TREC et le Prince Hassan bin Talal de Jordanie, membre du Club de Rome, rencontreront le mardi 17 juin à 16H15, au Ministère de l'Environnement, Jean Louis Borloo, Ministre d'Etat. 
 
Thème : Plan solaire pour la Méditerranée (UfM) et projet de réseau électrique HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) à l'échelle Europe + Afrique du nord + Moyen Orient.
